Earlier this week, Representative Jered Taylor led a fight on the floor of the Missouri House to add ‘Campus Carry’ to a college campus security bill.
As amended, House Bill 575 will allow law abiding gun owners who possess a concealed carry permit to carry on Missouri’s public colleges and universities!
Naturally, the anti-gun members of the House were ranting and raving about how this will make college campuses less safe as they worked to kill the amendment.
Ultimately the bill passed 94-41, but it still must be voted on one final time. That vote will likely take place as early as this coming Monday!

To be clear, the amended House Bill 575 is not the same as House Bill 258, which means it does not repeal all ‘Gun Free Zones’ in Missouri — but it does repeal them on college campuses!
And honestly, that’s a great place to start.
One of the most incredible moments of the debate over this language took place when Rep. Taylor responded to some of the complaints from anti-gun lawmakers who questioned the need for this legislation.
When Rep. Taylor told the House that studies show 1 in 4 college women are sexually assaulted while a college student, and that 15% of them report being raped, you could have heard a pin drop.
But as I said above, this bill must be voted on again before going over to the Senate for consideration.
Insiders are reporting that a number of moderate Republicans are working right now to try to tank this bill if it includes this Campus Carry language.
That’s why I hope you’ll send your State Representative this PRE-WRITTEN EMAIL right away, insisting that he support H.B. 575 and oppose any attempt to remove Campus Carry from it!

As you’ll see, it doesn’t matter if you don’t know your lawmaker’s email address or his name. Simply type in your address and the system will do the rest!
But that’s not all.
You see, while we’ve had a public hearing on H.B. 258 in the General Laws Committee (our underlying bill that would repeal ALL deadly ‘Gun Free Zones’ here in Missouri) Chairman Dean Plocher has refused to advance the bill!
And with the legislative calendar moving quickly now that we’re well into April, we don’t have much time to lose.
Representative Dean Plocher needs to hear from you immediately!
Your message is simple: we’re tired of watching you run out the clock on this much needed legislation, which simply removes deadly ‘Gun Free Zones’ from the book here in Missouri.
