'Red Flag Gun Seizures' Filed in Jeff City! - Missouri Firearms Coalition

We knew it was just a matter of time, we just didn’t know who was going to be leading the charge.

But if you haven’t already heard, ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ legislation has been filed in Jefferson City, and that’s why I hope that you’ll take a moment to oppose this nasty legislation.

The bill, Senate Bill 543, is the ultimate goal of gun-grabbers everywhere, because it allows you to be stripped of your gun rights for a lifetime,
before you’ve ever been convicted in court for a crime!

But as nasty as this legislation is, it’s even more disgusting when you consider who is leading the charge for it.

That’s because the bill sponsor, Senator Jamilah Nasheed, is the same Jamilah Nasheed who was arrested in a disruptive protest in Ferguson, MO a few years ago.

At the time of her arrest, officers said that Nasheed appeared intoxicated (she refused a breathalyzer test) and was also carrying a loaded 9mm handgun!

Isn’t this how it always works?

Smug, America-hating, radical leftists — with a criminal history involving guns no less — get up on their high horse and launch attacks against the Second Amendment freedoms of millions of law abiding Missourians.

I don’t know about you, but I’m sick of it.

If you are too, please take a moment and send your pre-written
email to your lawmakers in Jeff City, making sure they know you are 100% opposed to this legislation.

If enacted, this legislation would allow virtually anyone — even a distant family member that you haven’t seen in a decade — to claim that you are a danger to yourself or someone else and ask a judge to order you stripped of your firearms.

The amount of room for abuse in this process should have every gun owner in Missouri alarmed. Consider the following:

>>> These gun seizure orders will be issued before you have been convicted,
or even charged, with anything!

A gun owner with absolutely no criminal background of any kind, can have his firearms seized before he ever sets foot in a courtroom. You would have more due process rights in traffic court than you would in defending your constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

>>> The hearing that determines whether or not to strip you of your firearms happen in secret!

Known as ex-parte proceedings, these hearings take place in your absence. You will have no ability to question your accuser, provide your own evidence, or testify in your own defense. In fact, the first time you will be made aware of this is when law enforcement officers come to your home to seize your firearms.

>>> These seizure orders will amount to a lifetime gun ban, as the petitioner or the judge can renew this seizure order every 6 months!

We all know that this is what will happen, that gun grabbers will use this tool to
disarm gun owners for a lifetime, without any criminal conviction of any kind.

That’s why I need every gun owner in the state to fire off your email immediately, to make sure that lawmakers know that gun owners are mobilized and engaged and willing to hold anti-gun lawmakers accountable.
