Just hours ago, the Second Amendment Preservation Act (H.B. 1637) passed out of the General Laws Committee, thanks to a massive number of emails and phone calls from grassroots gun owners! Once Chairman Plocher signs the bill out (which should happen shortly,) this legislation will be going on to the Rules Committee for further review. While the additional committee process is a concern as the legislative clock keeps grinding along every day, Rules Chairman Rocky Miller and many others on the committee are cosponsors on this bill. But that doesn’t mean that its passage is assured. Please don’t gloss over this step. Sending your email takes just a few seconds, please send it off at once! But things are much, much worse in the Senate. It’s been almost a month since the Senate Transportation and Public Safety Committee heard the Senate version of the Second Amendment Preservation Act. A month of valuable floor time has been allowed to evaporate, which is not an accident. When asked about the delay, Chairman Libla says that there are ‘problems with the bill.’ When asked what those problems are, Libla refuses to elaborate. But when a committee sits on a bill like this and invents ‘problems with the bill,’ it’s almost always a sign that the committee intends to kill the bill outright or weaken it to the point of being worthless. I don’t know about you, but I’m sick and tired of our ‘pro-gun Senate’ tanking guns bills year after year! Please take action right away, as both of the committees in question having scheduled committee meetings yet this week! For Missouri, Aaron Dorr P.S. Earlier today, the House General Laws Committee advanced SAPA legislation through the committee and the bill (H.B. 1637) should go to the House Rules Committee. Please email this committee right away, urging them to pass the bill as soon as possible! At the same time, the Senate Public Safety Committee is holding back both SAPA legislation AND our legislation to end deadly ‘Gun Free Zones’ — after holding the hearing a month ago! Email the Senate committee immediately and insist that they stop playing games with these bills! Take action right To become a member of the Missouri Firearms Coalition, click the links below!
