The first vote your State Representative will make next session is for Speaker of the House, to decide who will run the chamber for the next two years. In some ways, this is the most important vote your Representative will cast on your behalf!
There are two candidates running for Speaker: Jon Patterson and Justin Sparks.
As Majority Floor Leader for the last two years, Jon Patterson has betrayed gun conservatives and all conservatives repeatedly. At a minimum Patterson:
- Killed every pro-gun bill over the last two years, and flirted with Red Flag laws;
- Voted NO on IP Reform both times it came up in the House in 2024;
- Voted NO on the bill that protected minors from having their genitals removed;
- Forced a sunset clause into the law that keeps men from playing in women’s sports;
- Was and still is a Never Trumper;
- Has promised to do nothing to roll back Amendment 3;
It’s clear that Jon Patterson despises the conservative agenda that Missourians clearly voted for on November 5. If he’s the Speaker, all gun bills are likely dead in 2025 and 2026.
But Justin Sparks is a conservative champion with a history of fighting for gun owners!
