As a member of the Missouri Firearms Coalition, I wanted you to be the first to know that the 2018 MOFC candidate surveys are in the mail!
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, our survey program is where we get to ask the candidates the tough questions about where they stand on the Second Amendment.
Of course, as a membership driven organization, these questions are the culmination of the questions you’ve given to us in response to our emails and Facebook videos seeking your input.
You see, since this is Missouri, almost EVERYONE running for public office will tell you they are ‘good on guns.’
Frankly, that doesn’t tell you and I anything about what they will do when the pressure really mounts in Jeff City, especially once they are safely in office.
For example, despite having overwhelming ‘pro-gun majorities’ in both chambers, the legislature has killed our bill to end deadly ‘Gun Free Zones’ for two years in a row!
And make no mistake, this isn’t a case of sour grapes where we are mad they passed other gun bills but not ours.
Lawmakers in Jeff City haven’t passed ANY gun bills in over two years!
That’s why it’s absolutely vital that you and I get the candidates on the record now — when they are running for office and desperate for the support of gun owners.
But make no mistake about it, we are counting on MOFC members to help us get the candidates on the record.
As you’ll see in the survey, this isn’t some powder puff survey where we ask, “Do you support the Second Amendment?”
No, we got down into the details of the current issues surrounding the fight for the Second Amendment by asking questions like:
>>> If elected, would you SUPPORT legislation that repeals so called “Gun Free Zones,” in areas where the state legislature has control, knowing that they only benefit armed madmen who are looking to rack up a body count?
>>> If elected, would you OPPOSE ‘Red Flag Orders’ and similar legislation that would deny law abiding Missouri citizens their gun rights without due process through a court of law and without ever having been adjudicated as defective or convicted?
>>> If elected, would you OPPOSE legislation that would leave American citizens between the ages of 18-20 defenseless and unable to buy a firearm for self defense?
These questions are designed to provide absolutely no wiggle room — either you stand up for gun rights or you are just talking the talk.
The Missouri Firearms Coalition staff spent the entire 2018 session working the legislature and mobilizing our members to help end ‘Gun Free Zones,’ only to be stabbed in the back by legislative leaders who tabled the bill.
We know, first hand, that a number of our ‘friends’ in the legislature are anything but.
So don’t fall for any excuses from your candidates about why they won’t survey like, ‘I voted for gun bills in the past,’ or, ‘I grew up on a farm, I’m pro-gun,’ or ‘It’s Missouri, of course I’m pro-gun.’
If they won’t sign this simple 8 question candidate survey and put their views on paper, that should be a major warning sign to every gun owner in Missouri!

Second, printing off copies of the survey and handing them to your candidates, insisting that they go on the record. You can email or mail them back into us once they are completed.
Third, getting your friends and family involved in this process by urging them to help us get these candidates on the record as well.
One of the nice things about living in Missouri is that we are able to see our legislative candidates at forums and events regularly.
This is your chance to hand them this survey and make sure they understand that you expect them to go on the record as a fighter for the Second Amendment — especially if they want your support!
