It was a busy week in the fight for gun rights in Jeff City.
Our bill to repeal ‘Gun Free Zones’ (SB 121) was heard in the Senate’s Transportation and Public Safety Committee earlier this week.
Sponsored by Senator Burlison, this legislation would rid Missouri of ‘Gun Free Zones’ — areas that are ‘off-limits’ to gun owners due to state law, but are the favorite target of every madman looking for a body count.
And while the committee was receiving testimony only (they did not have a vote on the bill at this meeting) it was a great first step for this bill!
But the big news for next week is that the House General Laws Committee will take up the House version of this legislation this COMING WEDNESDAY!
This bill (HB 258) has been sponsored and fought for by Representative Jered Taylor and has the support of close to twenty cosponsors.
But before this bill can come to the floor for a vote, we must get past the committee process, and that begins with General Laws.
If you can join us at this hearing, we would love to have you for a couple of reasons.
First off, Alexandra Salsman, our Political Director, is normally outnumbered somewhere around 90-8 at these hearings and could use some support.
But the second reason is even more important, and that is so that lawmakers can hear from every day gun owners who are sick and tired of being disarmed in so many locations.
Unfortunately, we do not have the time of this hearing nailed down as of this morning. What we do know is below.

Remember, even though Missouri has both Constitutional Carry and Stand-Your-Ground laws on the book, they count for nothing if you are forced to disarm in so many locations!
This bill would change all of that and let law abiding Missourians carry at church, while voting, while out to eat, and in many other places.

It’s vital that you take action, so that this bill can move out of this committee as soon as possible. Bloomberg’s forces are attacking this bill 24 hrs a day, and we need to counter that.

As a member of the Missouri Firearms Coalition, I am contacting you to urge you to support H.B. 258 whenever it comes before the General Laws Committee.
This legislation would rid Missouri of dozens of ‘Gun Free Zones’ where law abiding citizens are defenseless, and where criminals routinely launch mass attacks.
Missouri’s Constitutional Carry and Stand-Your-Ground laws do nothing if I’m in a place where I’m forced to disarm myself.
Before a large attack in a ‘Gun Free Zone’ happens here in Missouri, please advance H.B. 258 with no weakening amendments!
