In the wake of Joe Biden’s announcement that he’s looking to register ‘80% lower’ firearms and ban the very popular AR-15 pistol brace via executive order, Missourians are getting tired of the inaction in Jeff City.
Gun owners know that if Joe Biden gets away with banning and registering one group of firearms or accessories, he’s just going to come back for more.
That’s the bad news.
The good news is that we can stop him here in Missouri with the Second Amendment Preservation Act (H.B. 85) which states that Missouri’s peace officers may only enforce Missouri law when it comes to firearms, ammunition, and accessories!
HELP PASS SAPA LAW IN MISSOURI!
That means that unless Biden wants to send federal law enforcement agencies door to door here in Iowa to enforce his gun control agenda, his executive orders and any laws that Congress passes would be completely ignored here.
Sounds too good to be true? It’s not.
The states have always had the right to tell an overbearing federal government to pound sand if federal laws contradicted state laws! What’s more, as you can see here, the U.S. Supreme Court has upheld this concept over and over.
Just like a growing number of states have chosen to ignore federal laws regarding marijuana and legalizing it at the state level, they can choose to ignore federal laws regarding the Second Amendment, too.
The Constitution and case law are clear: the Missouri legislature has the right to nullify federal gun control overreach at the state level. The question is, do they have the political will to do it?

SAPA legislation (H.B. 85) passed the House ten weeks ago. But in the Senate, while the bill was voted out of the General Laws committee last week, it is being held up from receiving a floor vote by Senate President Dave Schatz.
The reason: Schatz is angry that the House has not taken action on his bill to raise the gas tax here in Missouri, and so he’s holding SAPA legislation hostage as part of that negotiation.
But make no mistake, your Senator knows all about this.
And so while he is telling you that he’s pro-gun and that he supports the Second Amendment Preservation Act, he is very likely just sitting back and doing absolutely nothing to pressure Schatz into passing the bill!
THIS is why Missouri hasn’t passed a single gun bill since 2016 — when Barack Obama was still living in the White House!
Most ‘red’ states have taken bold and decisive action to advance the Second Amendment this year, largely as a ‘screw you’ to Joe Biden.
Iowa passed a monumental Constitutional Carry bill, while phasing out any need for a permit for person-to-person handgun sales.
Arkansas and South Dakota just passed fantastic Stand-Your-Ground laws, to protect gun owners who have to defend themselves from criminals.
In Kansas, the legislature is lowering the age at which gun owners can carry a handgun for self-defense.
Wyoming extended their Constitutional Carry laws to all law-abiding Americans, not just residents.
I could go on and on. Gun owners in Republican-dominated states are seeing pro-gun bill pass into law every day. But for gun owners here in Missouri, Republican leaders have killed EVERY SINGLE GUN BILL FOR ALMOST FIVE YEARS!
DON’T LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS!
When you email your Senator, make sure he understands that you couldn’t care less about his oral support for the Second Amendment.
And be sure he knows that you aren’t interested in how many guns he owns, where he goes deer hunting in the fall, or the votes he cast on gun bills years ago. These are all pathetic attempts to distract you from the issue at hand.
This is really simple: will he stand up and insist that Senator Schatz put H.B. 85 on the floor, or will he sit back and do nothing, hoping to curry Schatzs’ favor — hoping to get a better committee assignment next session in exchange?
