👉 Breaking: Major Gun Rights Bill Filed in Jeff City!

We warned them not to do this!

Last fall, Jackson County passed an ordinance banning Missourians aged 18-20 from owning firearms, ammo, and some accessories. And they did it in complete violation of the state’s pre-emption law.

This was so bad that County Executive Frank White (not a Republican) vetoed the measure, only to be overridden by the county.

That’s why the Missouri Firearms Coalition just filed legislation to overhaul the state’s pre-emption law, giving citizens in Jackson Co. the option to sue the county if it enforces this ordinance!

(Missouri’s pre-emption law says that no city or county legislature may pass gun control laws more restrictive than state law.)

This bill (SB-74/HB-726) does two main things:

First, it puts teeth in our current pre-emption law. Once passed, any Missourian whose gun rights are restricted by a city/county could sue that county in civil court for damages!

Second, it removes the section in pre-emption that allows the cities to regulate open carry. This carve out was part of a compromise when the law was passed (before MOFC existed) but it’s been abused.

COSPONSOR SB-74/HB-726 NOW!

(Senator Brad Hudson and Rep. Lisa Durnell are our lead bill sponsors on SB-74/HB-726, which would pass pre-emption reform in Missouri!)

To thank Senator Hudson for sponsoring SB-74, call his office at 573-751-1882.

To thank Representative Durnell for sponsoring HB-726, call her office at 573-751-1455.

This bill is a must do. If we don’t deal with this, then every blue city and county will try to do the same thing! This is how we fight back! But this only works if the legislature passes it!
