National Reciprocity Passes House Judiciary Committee!

Earlier this week, the House Judiciary Committee in Washington, DC, H.R. 38, National Reciprocity, passed 18 to 9 votes!

This is the legislation that President Donald Trump promised to pass in his inauguration speech in January!

As you may know, National Reciprocity would allow Americans who have a permit in one state, or live in a Constitutional Carry, to carry in every other state!

The last time this legislation was passed in 2017, it was ultimately watered down before being passed over to the Senate.

We will need to keep an eye the bill as it moves to the House floor and make sure there aren’t any poison pills.

H.R. 38 has an incredible 178 co-sponsors!

It’s been 8 years since any major piece of pro-2A legislation has moved in the House, and it remains to be seen if there are enough votes in the House.

And then of course it takes 60 votes in the Senate, where Republicans have just 53.

While we don’t currently have a timeline for floor action, we will be sure to keep you updated on the latest developments.
